Wow... that's all I can say. The painter is finished, and has confessed that he has never smiled more while painting a house. The blues in the gathering room, kitchen, and studio turned out amazing (complimented by a pale french pink in the laundry room).

Laundry room to kitchen to gathering room to studio.

Guest bathroom to hall to guest bedroom.

The guest bedroom and bath take on a different tone with brighter pink and purple tones... This is where the term "South Beach" has been used to describe the effect. The pink and purple are very bold, and the look totally rocks. I know the tones are brighter than what many would prefer, but quote frankly, we Americans are a boring folk.

Master bedroom ceiling.

We've also gotten a ton of comments from friends about how well they like the way the master bedroom turned out as well, which is pictured here with the ceiling fan. I'll shoot some more complete photos when the lighting changes in the room.

These photos are just a sampling. More to come when we get the artwork hung, furniture moved, etc.

Great great colors. Very tasteful - it'll be fantastic to live there. The fan looks similar to the ones at a site I found on boingboing ...

Regardless, somebody could be an interior decorator here.

Excellent site you've got here.

WOW! I would love to live in a place like that... it definitely would wake me up in the morning :)

Great colors, are more photos on the way?

Very nice.

Josh and Rach!

Wow!! The house looks great. Y'all certainly took the bold route, but it turned out awesome. You'll definitely have to post more pictures.

I need to see more, much more, but from these three pictures alone, the rooms seem very vivid and alive, which is a good thing.

The pink room looks extremely enticing, it makes me want to go in there.

The colors in the bedroom seem quite nice.

The kitchen is, in my opinion, perhaps the most challenging room. And by challenging, I mean challenging previous notions about what a kitchen looks like. My first impression was that the "furniture" didn't fit in, at first it was the color, but now I'm thinking that it might just be their style. I think a scandinavian, more simple (more flat surfaces, less detail, less pattern), design of trapdoors and such might go better with the atmosphere the colors set in the room (still keeping in mind that I've only seen this one picture).

Looking forward to seeing more pictures, it does (seem to) look very nice.

Wow, that looks great! I love the color combinations. My wife and I are looking into getting a house soon, and now I'm even more inspired to make it look good!!

Hope you're doing well.

Right on. Those color combinations are superb! I especially love the contrast of #A8C2BE against #314E51. I may have to borrow that for a layout or two. Excellent choices.

Way to go guys! Can't wait to see it first-hand...you definitely have to post further pics. I bet your cool art collection will be set-off fantastically by your pallette of choice. Keep 'em coming! Love you.

whoah, that kitchen shot is tearing me between barbie dreamhouse flashbacks and a desire to lick the monitor to test the candy levels of the paint :)

Hi Rach! Hi Josh!
The house looks amazing!!! You must've had a blast picking out those colors. I gotta come down and see in person some time. Love y'all!

More pictures on the way... I'll have some better lighting hopefully today and can add new ones over the weekend. Seeing as how I actually have to unplug my G4 and move it too, it may be Monday before this happens.

A few thoughts for the moment...

Tomas is correct about the kitchen being a challenge. The cabinets are a beautiful, naturally stained maple. While we added a good handful of custom features, this was not a complete "custom" built home. Many of the finishings had limited choices in the end... including the cabinets.

I think both Rach and I would agree that ideally, a simpler, Scandinavian look would be closer to what we'd ideally prefer. But this is North Texas, and admittedly, Texas (as a whole) is a few steps down on the style ladder when compared to, oh say, most places in Europe. So a lot simply had to do with what we could afford easily in this location.

Inside the kitchen really looks wonderful, and I'll shoot some more pics from different angles. We're also adding our artwork back to the walls today, and that creates a wonderful new dimension as well.

The blue in the kitchen mirrors the blue in my office, and the repetition is a nice touch. I think it probably turned out even better than we expected in that regard.

Dan, you're hilarious... And while I'm not sure if this was a conscious decision, these colors are very similar to a website Rach and I have been working on. She spec'd a lot of those colors, and perhaps that flowed over into our home.

whoa, that's the sexiest ceiling fan ever.

Hey Josh -- what's shakin? The house looks great, love the unique and rather unconventional color scheme. Looks really good -- I have to say I'm not sure I've I'd have been that brave. I mean, pink?

Came out great though!

Tomas says

Joshwa: Don't you have Ikea in Texas? ;-)

Joshwa says

Tomas: Yes, we do... but it's a 4-hour-drive away. So we decided to skip the cardboard cabinets in favor of real wood.

(Please know that I hold IKEA in the highest respect.)

;-)
