We've been told the building process always takes a little longer than you expect, and thus far that's been true. Honestly though, we've been so busy it's probably good that we're not moving any faster. I'd hate to get in a rush and choose some nasty color with which to paint the exterior of our new home.
All that said, Rachel and I have finalized almost all of the design elements of our home. At least everything required to start building. We've picked the paint, the tile, the carpet, the fixtures and appliances... I think we did really well. And for some reason we added a cable drop to our garage, longing for a day where we can play foosball in the extra car bay while watching SportsCenter from a suspended 23" LCD television. Ah, wouldn't that be nice?
The photo above is taken from the park across from our lot. The gazebo in the foreground is directly in front of our lot, which in the photo is right behind the black bench. No neighbors yet, but at least the gazebo will be ours alone for a little while!
Off to Chicago for a couple days. More news when we return.

Great site! Just stumbled upon it. Will be back often. Good luck with the house. I look forward to the day we get to build a home. I think it will be fun picking out colors and fixtures, etc. I hope you post pictures of its progress.
